It’s time to celebrate! Marion turns 191 years old (technically on Saturday May 20th). The community is invited to gather on Friday, May 19th, on Washington St. between 4th & 5th, including the 5th Street Commons lot between Washington and Adams St.Road Closures for the Block Party:
Washington St. will be closed between 4th and 5th as well as 5th St. between Washington and Adams from 4:30-11pm on Friday eve.The majority of features will happen between 6-9pm with a 40-foot inflatable obstacle course, free cotton candy, a free birthday mini-dessert served by soon-to-open Italian restaurant, Pompeii, an outdoor painting class (6pm/small fee) of a special Marion birthday art piece created by Echo Galleries owner Tashema Davis in the South Alley of the Courthouse Square, and an outdoor beer garden (Obi’s Barbecue) across from the City Stage. MPD’s “Johnny Law,” a police car, and a Marion fire truck will also be on site for the kids.
