Bad Dad Brewing Co. is your stop and stay-a-while destination. This nano-brewery in Fairmount offers a variety of IPAs to taste. With twelve beers on tap, you are sure to find your favorite to sip for hours. Grub options include appetizers and scratch made brick oven pizza. Come as you are. Bring a cigar. Watch the game. Then, sip and tell stories for as long as they last.
There’s no place friendlier than the Folksies Tavern in Marion. Hang out and listen to groovin’ tunes on the classic jukebox. The beer is cold, and the menu options are loaded with cheesy and spicy goodness.
Gas City Brewing Co. is a locally owned brewery featuring IPAs and Stouts on tap. The exposed brick walls give this place a rugged and industrial atmosphere.
Located in historic downtown Converse, Imagine Burger and Brew serves juicy burgers as big as your head! If you can dream up a burger combination, they’ve probably got it on the menu! With so many to try, you might have a hard time deciding.
The Witter’s Bull Pen Bar & Grill in Upland has a large selection of liquor and the beer is always cold. Try the pub wings in this cozy and comfortable bar.
Nifty Memorabilia
The James Dean Gallery showcases rare memorabilia, hometown artifacts and collectibles all centered around the legendary James Dean. Born in Fairmount, Indiana, James Dean was a 1950s Hollywood icon who tragically died way too soon. Dean was the essence of what it meant to be cool when soda fountains, poodle skirts and sideburns were all the rage.
Take selfies with your sidekicks and the larger-than-life James Dean cutout mural, next to the gallery. Also, while in Grant County, you might encounter two more of these huge cutouts created by famous muralist, John Cerney. Find them all!
Likewise, the James Dean Museum is an historic landmark and houses James Dean, Garfield cartoon creator Jim Davis and community history.
A Dandy Day on the Golf Course
We recommend you play one of these three demanding, yet friendly to the casual player courses. All of these golf facilities are located in Marion and offer a variety of amenities.
Walnut Creek/Club Run Gold Courses is nestled in a scenic natural setting of lakes, creeks and forests. Experienced golfers will appreciate this 36-hole complex, which includes a covered range and boasts a 4-star Golf Digest rating.
Dotted with eleven water hazards and numerous sand bunkers, Shady Hills Golf Course features 18-holes of moderately challenging play.
A bit more suitable to the casual player, Arbor Trace Golf Course features gracefully rolling hills and water on six holes.
